Chhattisgarh trounce Goa by 6 wickets in Naudu trophy
 
 
Panaji, Oct 16: A blistering unbeaten knock of 76 runs, studded with 8 hits to fence, by Vasim Sheikh and leg-break bowler Harpreet Singh’s haul of 10 wickets while conceding 36 runs in both the innings guided Chhattisgarh to score an emphatic 6-wicket win over host Goa on the penultimate day of the four-day U-22 C K Nayudu Trophy Cricket Tournament match, played at GCA ground at Porvorim today.

Goa, after gaining 15-run lead of first innings, today resumed their second innings with a score on board 95 for 5. They lost their remaining five wickets in quick sucession adding only 31 runs to the total and were all out for 126 in 64. An over before lunch with Keenan Vaz 14, Tushar Narvekar 11 and Girish Yadav 13.

The visitors Harpreet Singh was a wrecker-in-chief who claimed total 10 wickets in both the innings giving away only 36 runs. In the both the innings, he claimed five wickets each while conceding 13 and 23 runs respectively.

Vishal Khusvah, who claimed 3 wickets while conceding 23 runs, also enabled Harpreet in the demolition act.

Chhattisgarh, chasing a target of 142 runs for outright win, had no difficulty to reach the target losing their only four wickets in 42 overs on the strength of Vasim Sheikh's unbeaten knock of 76 which were laced with eight fours off 130 balls, Karandeep Sangu 30, Harpreet Singh 14, Vishal Kushvah 10 and Satnam Singh not out 5.

Host Gaurish Gawas and Vivian Casthilino claimed one wicket each conceding 45 and 40 runs respectively.

Score in Brief: Goa (First innings): 134 Chhattisgarh: 119 Goa (Second innings): 126 all out (Keen Vaz 14, Tushar Narvekar 11, Girish Yadav 13.

Harpreet Singh 5 for 23, Vishal Kushva 3 for 23).

Chhattisgarh: 142 for 4 in 42 overs (Vasim Sheikh not out 76, Karandeep Sangu 30, Harpreet Singh 14, Vishal Kushva 10, Satnam not out 5. Gaurish Gawas 1 for 45, Vivian Castilinho 1 for 40).
